PNK Year-End Thanksgiving 2024: Patuloy Na Magbigay Kasiyahan sa Diyos ang Kaniyang Bayan

As another year draws to a close, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) once again gathers to celebrate the Year-End Thanksgiving—a sacred and joyous occasion to reflect on God’s countless blessings.

Among the most heartwarming parts of this celebration is the participation of the Church’s youngest members through the Pagsamba ng Kabataan (PNK), or Children’s Worship Service (CWS). Through this special worship, the children express their love, gratitude, and unwavering commitment to “patuloy na magbigay kasiyahan sa Diyos”.

The Heart of Thanksgiving: The PNK’s Role

In the Iglesia Ni Cristo, teaching children the importance of worshiping God starts early. The Pagsamba ng Kabataanserves as a foundation for their faith, instilling biblical principles, discipline, and a love for God’s words. During the Year-End Thanksgiving, this service takes on even greater significance, as children reflect on how God has guided and blessed them throughout the year.

This worship is not just a routine but a sacred offering of praise. As the Bible teaches:

“Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him” (Psalm 127:3, NIV).

The PNK Year-End Thanksgiving becomes a beautiful expression of how the Church’s children—God’s precious gifts—are taught to recognize His presence in their lives.

Patuloy na Magbigay Kasiyahan sa Diyos

The theme, “Patuloy na magbigay kasiyahan sa Diyos ang kaniyang bayan,” is not just for adults but also for the children. Even at a young age, the members of the PNK are encouraged to live in a way that pleases God. Through simple yet heartfelt acts—such as praying diligently, attending worship services, obeying their parents, and showing kindness to others—these young members learn that giving joy to God is not just about grand gestures but about consistency and sincerity.

During the Year-End Thanksgiving, the PNK offers songs of praise, prayers of gratitude, and their own offerings prepared by their parents. Each child is taught that every little act of obedience, every prayer, and every hymn sung is pleasing in the sight of God. Their young voices, lifted in unity, resound as a pure and powerful offering of thanksgiving.

A Year of Blessings and Guidance

For the children, this Year-End Thanksgiving is a time to look back and appreciate all the blessings God has provided: the good health that allowed them to study and play, the care and guidance of their parents, and the joy of being active in the faith. It’s also a time to acknowledge God’s help through challenges, big or small, and to be reminded of the importance of staying close to Him in the coming year.

The PNK officers and teachers play a key role in this spiritual journey, guiding the children with patience and love. Through the worship service, the children are reminded that their faith is a treasure to cherish. They are encouraged to keep obeying God’s will, for in doing so, they bring joy not only to Him but also to their parents, loved ones, and the entire Church.

Strengthening the Faith of Future Leaders

The Year-End Thanksgiving of the PNK is more than a celebration—it is a preparation for the future. These children are the next generation of Church officers, leaders, and faithful members who will continue the work of the Iglesia Ni Cristo. By actively participating in worship services and giving thanks, they learn that living a life of faith begins now, in their youth.

As Proverbs 22:6 says:

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (NKJV).

This Year-End Thanksgiving becomes a moment of planting seeds of faith that will grow stronger with time. Through the PNK, children are molded to love worshiping God, to trust in His promises, and to live in a way that always gives joy to Him.

A United Offering of Gratitude

The beauty of the Iglesia Ni Cristo’s Year-End Thanksgiving is how it unites every member—young and old—in one purpose: to thank and glorify God. The children of the PNK are not spectators; they are active participants in this sacred occasion. Their genuine faith and youthful devotion remind us all of the purity and sincerity that God desires from His people.

In the simple prayers of the children, in their innocent voices singing praises, and in their smiles of gratitude, the Church sees a glimpse of God’s joy. These young worshipers inspire everyone to hold onto their faith and to continue living in ways that bring honor to the Almighty.

Continuing to Please God

As we close another year and look forward to a new one, the PNK reminds us of a timeless truth: pleasing God should remain the priority of His people. No matter how young or old we are, each of us has the capacity to give joy to our Creator.

For the children of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, the Year-End Thanksgiving is more than a responsibility—it’s a celebration of faith, love, and gratitude. Through their participation in the Pagsamba ng Kabataan, they embody the theme of “Patuloy na magbigay kasiyahan sa Diyos,” showing us all that a life dedicated to worship and obedience is one that truly brings joy to the One who blesses us all.

Let us continue to nurture these young souls, for through them, the future of the Church shines bright. May God’s people—young and old—remain steadfast in giving joy and glory to Him, now and forever.

The Importance of Recognizing Church Leaders' Birthday (Happy Birthday po Ka Eduardo!)

Celebrating a church leader's birthday can hold deep significance for a congregation, grounded in Biblical principles of honoring those who lead and serve with dedication. The Bible calls us to respect and appreciate our leaders, recognizing the ways they labor in teaching, guiding, and spiritually nurturing the community. Acknowledging their birthday is one way to show appreciation in a way that’s both scripturally sound and personally meaningful.

In 1 Timothy 5:17, we read, “Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.”

This verse reminds us that church leaders, who dedicate themselves to the ministry, are deserving of our respect and gratitude. Birthdays offer a natural opportunity to put this instruction into practice, letting leaders know that they are valued not only for their spiritual guidance but for who they are as individuals. It’s a time for the congregation to show appreciation and offer blessings, reinforcing the bond of community and the shared journey in faith.

Recognizing a church leader’s birthday can also be a way of affirming their humanity.

Leaders, often tirelessly involved in serving others, can sometimes feel isolated or weighed down by their responsibilities. Acknowledging their birthday allows the congregation to step in, uplift, and encourage them. Celebrating a birthday is a gentle reminder that they are seen, appreciated, and supported—not only for their role but as people with hopes, challenges, and needs.

In addition, celebrating a leader’s birthday with humility and joy creates a positive atmosphere within the church without veering into fanatical worship. It’s not about elevating the leader to an idol-like status, which the Bible warns against, but about expressing appreciation for their stewardship. Hebrews 13:7 states,

“Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.”

Recognizing birthdays provides a way to reflect on the example leaders set in their faith walk and to thank God for their impact on the community.

The benefits of such recognition are tangible for both leaders and the congregation. For the leader, it brings encouragement, strength, and renewed motivation. For the congregation, it strengthens unity, as members come together to express gratitude and to pray for the continued wisdom and well-being of their leader. This unity, in turn, fosters a stronger sense of spiritual growth and mutual support within the church.

Celebrating a church leader's birthday is an occasion to honor and encourage them, fostering community and expressing Biblical gratitude. When done with sincere appreciation, it becomes an act of faith —a reminder of our interconnectedness and a celebration of the gifts God has bestowed on us through our leaders.

The Unknown Benefits of Walking in 2024

Walking offers numerous benefits that often go unnoticed or are under-appreciated, beyond the well-known advantages of improved cardiovascular health and weight management.

But before we dive in to the lesser-known benefits of walking, allow me to share my stoked-moments of using my Onitsuka Tiger 3-stripes slip-on, which complements positively on my 3 - mile walk. As seen in the picture, it depicts the aura of like walking on air. Hahahahaha! I may be exaggerating but really, no, I am just stating the facts.

1. Enhances Creativity

  • Boosts Brain Function: Studies have shown that walking can stimulate creative thinking. The rhythmic motion of walking increases blood flow to the brain, which can enhance problem-solving skills and lead to new ideas.

2. Promotes Better Sleep

  • Improves Sleep Quality: Regular walking, especially during the day, can help regulate your sleep patterns and promote deeper sleep at night. Physical activity can reduce anxiety and stress, making it easier to fall asleep.

3. Strengthens Your Immune System

  • Boosts Immunity: Engaging in regular physical activity, such as walking, has been linked to a healthier immune system. Moderate exercise can help reduce the risk of illness by improving circulation and promoting better immune function.

4. Increases Longevity

  • Extends Life Expectancy: Research has indicated that regular walking can contribute to a longer life. Even small amounts of daily walking can reduce the risk of chronic diseases and improve overall longevity.

5. Improves Digestive Health

  • Aids Digestion: Walking after meals can promote better digestion by stimulating the digestive tract. This can help reduce bloating and discomfort.

6. Enhances Social Connections

  • Builds Community: Walking can serve as a social activity that fosters connections with others. Joining walking groups or participating in community walking events can strengthen social bonds and reduce feelings of loneliness.

7. Increases Mindfulness

  • Promotes Presence: Walking, especially in nature, allows for a meditative experience that encourages mindfulness. Focusing on your surroundings and the act of walking can help you become more present and aware, reducing stress and anxiety.

8. Stimulates Lymphatic System

  • Improves Detoxification: Walking helps stimulate the lymphatic system, which plays a crucial role in immune function and detoxification. This can improve the body’s ability to remove waste and toxins.

9. Fosters a Positive Outlook

  • Mood Regulation: Walking can serve as a natural antidepressant. The release of endorphins during physical activity can help regulate mood and promote a sense of well-being.

10. Enhances Joint Health

  • Increases Flexibility: Regular walking can help maintain joint health by keeping the joints flexible and lubricated. It can also help alleviate stiffness and improve overall mobility.

While walking is often viewed simply as a means of transportation or a basic form of exercise, it offers a multitude of benefits that extend far beyond physical fitness.

Incorporating regular walks into your routine can enhance various aspects of your life, from mental clarity to social connections and overall well-being. So, step outside and enjoy the many hidden rewards that walking has to offer!

... and don't forget to wear your favorite shoes! It'll boost further your endorphins.

These three factors primarily drive our mindset kung ano ang papaniwalaan at hindi.

Sometimes the noise out there in cyberspace cannot be drowned-out by our moral compass because of constant exposure to technology, every minute, every hour… we try to check for messages, notofications, reddit feeds, fb memes, etc. dahil within our reach ang teknolohiya.

Which eventually piles up leading to mental distress.

Social media is a great amplifier in positive or negative ways, that when the negativity seeps in, it will destroy mental strength to see through what is correct, and upholding what is within the bounds of righteousness.

Sun Life Philippines shared through email a reminder in general about caring mental health in difficult time. Here's a verbatim from the email:

1. Recognize the Emotional Impact.

- During challenging times, it's normal to experience a range of emotions, from anxiety to sadness. Recognizing these emotions is the first step towards healing.

2. Seek Support

- Don't hesitate to reach out for support. Talk to friends, family, or professional who can offer a listening ear and guidance.

3. Self-Care Strategies

- Engage in activities that promote well-being, such as exercise, meditation, and hobbies you enjoy.

4. Talk to the Children

- Children may also be struggling with their emotions. Have open conversations with them, offer reassurance, and provide a safe space for them to express their feelings.

If you know someone who’s having a mental uneasiness, take time po to assist and talk: baka kapamilya mo, nag-iisip na palang magsuicide, baka kaibigan mo — may signs of unhealthy mental health na pala.

Be there! An ear and shoulder to lean on…

INC: Tiyaking Makapanatili Sa Kahalalan (Brother Eduardo's Sermon August 24, 2024)

Here's an excerpt, highlights, and some quotable quotes I was able to capture while listening to the sermon officiated by none other than the church's present administrator -- Brother Eduardo V. Manalo.

"If your faith is not strong, you cannot stand firm... walang kalakasan, 'di makapanatili, 'di makatayo.. hindi sapat na kaanib lang sa Iglesia Ni Cristo"

Masasagupa:

- isang sakuna... nakapang wawasak, nakapipinsala, kakaibang sakuna, tumatayong mag-isa...

- katatagan

Pag-aalinlangan (extended definition/scope)

- mabilis maging taksil

The 6 Types Of Wealth

This post has a podcast version - visit Spotify and listen with us.

Came across this 5 types of wealth in IG years back. It wasn't expounded, just the one liner/phrase--because it's rhetorical in nature, those simple words are talking already by itself, alone. The post in Instagram was only 5 types but i added another 1 - the Wisdom wealth.

Allow me to put some expansion of thoughts on these 6 types of wealth based on experience, research, and, opinion.

1. Financial Wealth (Money and Possessions)

Your ability to wield the power of money, assets, and financial gains are important nowadays; factoring in comfort and convenience, financial wealth is one of the vehicles to achieve material things in life.

Although this wealth is relative, some people may consider it as not that important, because of priorities in life. Some may prioritize simple living and leaning toward peace of mind.

Take note, in these days, one of the keys to sustain comfort and convenience is material wealth.

2. Social Wealth (Status and Popularity)

Social wealth isn't about money in your pocket but about the currency of social capital. It's the respect, admiration, and influence you wield in your community. Think of it as a blend of your reputation, your network, and how many people value your presence and opinion.

Higher social wealth can open doors to opportunities. For example, job offers, partnerships, and invitations often come more readily to those with higher status or popularity.

A well-regarded person usually has a strong support network, which can provide emotional support, advice, and assistance in times of need.

Those with high social wealth often find themselves in leadership roles, whether in community organizations, workplaces, or social circles. Their opinions and decisions carry weight.

Popular and high-status individuals can be powerful agents of change, mobilizing others to support causes, adopt new behaviors, or shift cultural norms.

3. Time Wealth (Freedom)

Time wealth is the luxury of having control over your time to pursue what truly matters to you. It's about having the freedom to choose how you spend your days, whether it’s on work, leisure, personal growth, or spending time with loved ones. Imagine it as having a bank account filled with precious hours, and you get to decide how to invest them.

Control over your time allows you to prioritize self-care, leading to better physical and mental health. Imagine being able to exercise regularly, meditate, or simply relax without the pressure of a ticking clock.

Time wealth lets you invest in relationships, strengthening bonds with family and friends. It means being present at your child’s soccer game, enjoying a leisurely meal with loved ones, or catching up with old friends.

Time wealth is the ultimate freedom, a precious resource that allows us to live fully and authentically. It empowers us to nurture our well-being, build strong relationships, and engage meaningfully with our communities.

So, let’s strive to cultivate time wealth in our lives. Let’s advocate for flexible work environments, prioritize what matters most, and create a culture that values the richness of time. By doing so, we unlock the true potential of our lives, savoring each moment with the freedom to choose our path.

Remember, in the grand tapestry of life, it’s not just the years that count, but the time well spent. Embrace your time wealth, and watch how it transforms your world.

4. Physical Wealth (Health and Vitality)

Physical wealth refers to the state of your health and well-being. It encompasses everything from your physical fitness and nutrition to mental health and disease prevention. In essence, it’s the vitality and energy you possess to live your life to the fullest.

Physical Fitness: This includes your strength, endurance, flexibility, and overall physical condition. Regular exercise and active living are the cornerstones here.

Nutrition: What you eat fuels your body. A balanced diet rich in nutrients is essential for maintaining your health.

Mental Health: Your emotional and psychological well-being is crucial. Stress management, emotional resilience, and mental clarity all play vital roles.

Preventive Care: Regular check-ups, screenings, and proactive health measures help you catch potential issues early and maintain long-term health.

Physical wealth is the bedrock upon which a fulfilling life is built. It enables you to pursue your dreams, enjoy your achievements, and cherish your relationships. By investing in your health, you are investing in the most precious asset you possess—yourself.

So, let's commit to nurturing our physical wealth. Let's make choices that promote health and well-being, not just for ourselves but for our families and communities. Remember, the wealth of good health is the greatest fortune you can have, and it’s within your reach. Embrace it, nurture it, and watch as it enriches every aspect of your life

5. Knowledge and Wisdom Wealth

Wisdom wealth is the deep, comprehensive understanding and insight that comes from accumulating knowledge and experiences over time. It's not just about having information, but about synthesizing that information in meaningful ways to guide our actions and decisions.

Knowledge: This is the foundation—facts, information, and skills acquired through education and experience.

Experience: Practical encounters and engagements with the world that shape our understanding and judgement.

Insight: The ability to discern inner qualities and relationships. It's about seeing beyond the surface.

Judgment: The capacity to make sound decisions based on knowledge and insight.

These are the personal benefits:

Decision Making: Wisdom wealth enhances your ability to make informed, thoughtful decisions. It’s like having a well-lit path in a dark forest.

Resilience: With greater wisdom, you can better navigate life’s challenges and uncertainties, drawing on past experiences and learned knowledge to find solutions.

Fulfillment: Engaging with new ideas and continuous learning can lead to a deeply satisfying and enriching life.

Wisdom wealth is a treasure that enriches every aspect of our lives. It empowers us to make wise choices, fosters resilience, and brings deep fulfillment. It’s a gift that keeps on giving, not just to ourselves but to our communities and future generations.

So, let's commit to cultivating wisdom wealth. Let’s read, learn, and share our knowledge. Let's reflect on our experiences and seek deeper understanding. In doing so, we create a world where wisdom guides our actions, enriches our lives, and lights the way for others.

Remember, the wealth of wisdom is infinite, and it's within our reach. Embrace it, nurture it, and watch as it transforms our world into a more thoughtful, informed, and enlightened place.

6. Spiritual Wealth (Peace of Mind and Soul)

Spiritual wealth refers to a deep sense of inner peace, fulfillment, and purpose. It's the richness that comes from cultivating a meaningful connection with something greater than ourselves—be it a higher power, nature, or the collective human spirit. Think of it as the spiritual oxygen that fuels our souls.

I would consider this as the wealth with a promise. A promise transcending beyond this life -- to an everlasting peace and joy in the Holy City.

Here are the benefits..

Resilience: Spiritual wealth provides the strength to endure life’s hardships with grace and courage. It’s a source of unwavering inner strength.

Joy and Fulfillment: A spiritually wealthy person often experiences a profound sense of joy and fulfillment. Their life feels rich with purpose and significance.

Mental and Emotional Health: Spiritual practices like meditation, prayer, and reflection can greatly enhance mental and emotional well-being.

Spiritual wealth is a treasure that enriches every aspect of our lives. It provides the foundation for resilience, joy, and meaningful connections. It guides us to live with integrity and purpose, contributing not only to our well-being but also to the betterment of society.

So, let’s strive to cultivate spiritual wealth in our lives. Let’s practice mindfulness, engage in service, and seek out experiences that deepen our spiritual understanding. In doing so, we will find that we are not only richer ourselves but also more capable of enriching the lives of those around us.

Remember, the wealth of the spirit is infinite and ever-renewing. Embrace it, nurture it, and watch as it transforms your life and the world into a more peaceful, connected, and purposeful place.
